Abstract

A firmware update apparatus includes: a memory slot to or from which a memory storing information about firmware to be updated is configured to be attached or detached; a power supply module configured to supply power to a firmware update target device; and a first processor configured to control an operation of the firmware update apparatus, and to: transmit a request packet including status request information to the firmware update target device and receive a response packet including a response to the status request information; based on receiving the response packet, control power to be supplied to the firmware update target device through the power supply module; and based on the supplying of the power being completed, transmit the information about firmware to be updated, stored in the memory, to the firmware update target device and control a firmware update of the firmware update target device to be performed.
