Abstract

A patient discovery system for analysing a database of clinical data associated with a plurality of patients; comprising: a language adaptor circuit to receive a discovery configuration in a query language, the discovery configuration is used to determine patients to be flagged for investigation; a data transformation circuit to receive clinical text and produce transformed clinical data for the patients; wherein the clinical text is in source languages different to the query language; wherein the language adaptor circuit is agnostic to the source and query languages, and receives transformed clinical data, and detects the source language of transformed data, and uses received transformed data and discovery configurations to produce a coupled representation; and a patient discovery circuit for receiving the representation, and determining from the representation if the clinical text meets requirements of the discovery configuration, and if the requirements are met the patient is added to a flag list.
