Abstract

The present invention is an invention which relates to a positive electrode active material in which the particle diameter of primary particles is uniform, so that there is a small number of fine particles, and there is little breakage of particles during a fine pulverization process and a roll-pressing process for the manufacture of a lithium secondary battery, and the present invention relates to a positive electrode active material, a preparation method thereof, and a positive electrode and a lithium secondary battery including the positive electrode active material, wherein the positive electrode active material includes a lithium nickel cobalt manganese-based oxide having a nickel content of 50 mol% or greater among all transition metals, and in the form of a single particle composed of 10 or fewer primary particles, and has a polydispersity index (PDI) value of 1.0 to 1.8 according to Equation 1 described in the present specification.
