Abstract

The present invention relates to a positive electrode active material in the form of a single particle and capable of expressing optimal battery performance, and more particularly to, a positive electrode active material which includes a lithium composite transition metal oxide having a composition represented by Formula 1 described in the present specification, and in the form of a single particle composed of equal to or fewer than 10 primary particles, wherein the primary particles have a D<sub>v,50</sub> of 2.2 µm to 3.7 µm as derived from an SEM image, and have a small particle ratio of 5% to 10% according to Equation 1 described in the present specification, and a positive electrode and a lithium secondary battery including the positive electrode active material.
