Abstract

Provided is a battery that includes an aqueous electrolyte and is excellent in safety and in discharge characteristics at low temperatures. A battery according to the present invention includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte, wherein the electrolyte is an aqueous solution containing at least LiCl as an electrolyte salt, and the concentration of LiCl in the aqueous solution is 16 mass% or more. The amount of LiCl is preferably 50 parts by mass or more based on 100 parts by mass of the total amount of electrolyte salts contained in the electrolyte.
