Abstract

Provided are a separator for a rechargeable battery, and a rechargeable battery including the separator. The separator includes a porous substrate, and a first layer and a second layer located on at least one surface of the porous substrate. The second layer includes a (meth)acrylic adhesive binder having a glass transition temperature of ≥ 50 °C and ≤ 130 °C. The first layer includes a crosslinked product of a mixture of a first binder and a second binder, and a crosslinking agent. The separator also includes a filler. The first binder includes an aqueous binder, the second binder includes a carboxyalkyl cellulose-based compound or a salt thereof. The crosslinking agent includes citric acid.
