Abstract

A redundant network switch (2) for an Ethernet network (1), comprising: • at least a first uplink port (3a) and a second uplink port (3b) that are connectable to an Ethernet network (1); • a plurality of downlink ports (4a-4j) that are connectable to end devices (5a-5g), so as to provide these end devices (5a-5g) with connectivity to the Ethernet network (1); and • at least a first switching component (6a) connected at least to the first uplink port (3a) and a second switching component (6b) connected at least to the second uplink port (3b), wherein each downlink port (4a-4j) is connected to at least one of the first switching component (6a) and the second switching component (6b), wherein each of the first switching component (6a) and the second switching component (6b) is configured to, upon receiving an Ethernet frame from an uplink port (3a, 3b) or from a downlink port (4a-4j), forward this Ethernet frame to an uplink port (3a, 3b) or downlink port (4a-4j) that leads towards the destination of this Ethernet frame.
