Abstract
An energy saving device may be configured to reduce carbon emissions of a user. The device may include a processor. The device may obtain media content. The device may estimate a first energy consumption value based on the media content. The device may receive a user input indicating a request to adjust the first energy consumption value or adjust a quality level associated with the media content. The device may, based on the user input: apply a video processing algorithm to the media content to obtain a modified media content, estimate a second energy consumption value based on the modified media content, and/or compare the first and the second energy consumption values to generate an estimated energy savings. The device may accumulate and/or store the estimated energy savings in an energy savings account.
