Abstract

An apparatus for welding profiled bars comprises a heating plate (24) andgripping units (4, 5) arranged to grip profiled bars (2, 3) for pushing the end portions (6, 7) thereof against the heating plate (24) and against each other.Each gripping unit (4, 5) comprises an arrangement of machine parts (8) independent of the geometry of the profiled bars (2, 3) to be welded. Each gripping unit (4, 5) comprises a stabilising element (17) suitable for engaging with a side face (12) of a profiled bar (2, 3), and further, an upper containment element (25) and a lower containment element (26).Each one of the upper and lower containment elements (25, 26) is supported by the arrangement of machine parts (8) independently from the stabilising element (17).The apparatus prevents beads forming outside the profiled elements, and may be used to weld window frames.
