Abstract

A transportable elevator system (2) comprises a hoistway (4), an elevator car (6) that is configured for moving along the hoistway (4) and an elevator machine (9) that is configured for driving the elevator car (6). The hoistway (4) comprises a plurality of hoistway walls (24) with each of the hoistway walls (24) comprising a frame (24a) that surrounds a wall portion (24b, 24c) or that is surrounded by a wall portion (24b, 24c), and a plurality of reinforcement elements (26, 28a, 28b, 38) that are mounted to the hoistway walls (24), in particular to the wall portions (24b, 24c) and/or to the frames (24a) of the hoistway walls (24), such as to extend in a horizontal direction when the hoistway (4) is oriented in an upright position. The elevator car (6) and the elevator machine (9) are installed in the hoistway (4) forming an integrated elevator system (2) that is transportable to a desired installation site.
