Abstract
An electrodialysis tank including an anode, a cathode, and one or more electrodialysis units is prepared, wherein each electrodialysis unit includes a bipolar membrane, a first cation exchange membrane, and a second cation exchange membrane, and a desalination chamber is formed between the first cation exchange membrane and the second cation exchange membrane. While applying a voltage between the anode and the cathode, an organic acid salt aqueous solution is circulated through a circulation path including the desalination chamber, thereby precipitating a solid containing a free organic acid in the desalination chamber. The method enables efficient production of an organic acid.
