Abstract

In a lock, a latch bolt (2) with a latch (20) at one end is housed in a lock case (1) which can be inserted into a relative recess made in a door leaf. The latch (20), when extracted from the lock case (1), can be inserted into a seat (30) of a strike lock case or strike plate (3) which in turn can be inserted into the door frame. A control pawl (4) is operatively coupled to the latch bolt (2) so that, at least in one condition of the lock, it causes the latch (20) to retract into the lock case (1) along an axis (S1) of the lock case (1) when, under the action of a handle actuator, it rotates about an axis (R1) from a first rest position of the handle actuator to a second active position of the handle actuator against the action of elastic return means (5) tending to return the control pawl (4) toward the first rest position. A damping device comprises a first component (C1) fixed to the lock case (1) and a second component (C2) fixed to the pawl (4) engaged with each other so that the motion of the second component (C2), integral with the control pawl (4) with respect to the first component (C1) integral with the case (1) and engaged with it, generates damping of the rotational motion of the control pawl (4) from the second active position to the first rest position.
