Abstract

There is disclosed a cutterhead system (110) for engaging with a rock working face (140), comprising: a cutterhead carrier (126) comprising a first section and a second section, wherein the second section is configured to be rotatable relative to the first section about a pivot axis (A3); at least one rotatable cutterhead (128, 128') mounted to the second section of the cutterhead carrier (126), a respective cutterhead of the at least one cutterhead rotatable about a respective cutterhead rotational axis (A4, A4'); a plurality of roller cutters (130) independently rotatably mounted at each rotatable cutterhead (128, 128'), a respective roller cutter (130) being rotatable about a respective roller cutter rotational axis (A5, A5') arranged at an angle relative to the cutterhead rotational axis (A4, A4'), said angle is in the range of 60 to 90 degree, preferably in the range of 70 to 80 degrees; wherein the respective cutterhead rotational axis (A4, A4') is substantially transverse to the pivot axis (A3).
