Abstract
A heat shield (300) for a fuel nozzle (200) of a turbine engine (100) includes an shield flange (320) and a ceramic coating (400, 430, 440, 470, 480). The shield flange (320) has an axial direction, a radial direction, and a circumferential direction. The shield flange (320) includes a flange hot-side surface (322). The ceramic coating (400, 430, 440, 470, 480) is formed on the flange hot-side surface (322). The ceramic coating (400, 430, 440, 470, 480) includes a coating hot-side surface (402), a bulk region (412), and one or more surface regions (414). The one or more surface regions (414) are a portion of the coating hot-side surface (402) of the ceramic coating (400, 430, 440, 470, 480). Each surface region (414) of the one or more surface regions (414) has a surface roughness less than a surface roughness of each bulk region of the one or more bulk regions (412), a density greater than the density of each bulk region of the one or more bulk regions (412), or both.
