Disclosed herein is a cooking appliance. The cooking appliance includes a heating unit (30, 31, 33, 35) configured to heat a heating target placed on a top plate (20), and a sensor (110) configured to generate a signal by detecting vibrations generated in the top plate (20) , and is characterized by controlling the operation of the heating unit (30, 31, 33, 35) by reflecting knock input information identified based on the signal generated by the sensor (110).
