Abstract

A system and method of determining temperature compensated current for current transformer (CT) metering are provided. A CT assembly (130) having a temperature sensor (210) mounted within a housing (138) enables the measurement of temperature of the CT. A printed circuit board assembly (142) of the CT transmits the current and temperature to a trip unit (304). The trip unit (304) both displays the measurements, and calculates a temperature compensated current. The trip unit (304) may trip a breaker (300) or generate alerts based on temperature measurements within one or more CT assemblies or based on variance in the current between multiple CT assemblies.
