Abstract

An interchangeable lens mountable on a camera body includes a variable magnification optical system capable of varying magnification, an operation member configured to receive an operation for instructing varying the magnification of the variable magnification optical system from a user, a detection unit configured to detect the operation received by the operation member, a transmission unit configured to transmit information indicating the operation detected by the detection unit to the camera body, a control unit configured to perform in-lens control for controlling varying the magnification of the variable magnification optical system based on the information indicating the operation detected by the detection unit, and a reception unit configured to receive a signal indicating executability of the in-lens control from the camera body.
