Abstract

A computer-implemented method for authorizing a transaction comprises receiving, at a background system (30), physically discernible information (50) about a vehicle (16) associated with an authorizing party (18). Vehicle identification data (52) is obtained, based on the received physically discernible information (50). One or more data assets (40) are accessed in one or more databases (36). The one or more data assets (40) define a plurality of associations (42). Each association (42) of the plurality of associations (42) associates identifying information (44) about a respective vehicle (16) with contact information (46). A particular association (42V) of the plurality of associations (42) is determined. A request (54) to authorize a transaction is sent, or caused to be sent, to a recipient identified by the contact information (46) of the particular association (42V). The invention further comprises one or more machine-readable media and a system.
