Abstract

A power conversion apparatus includes: a rectifier circuit configured to rectify AC power from a three-phase AC power source; an inverter circuit configured to modulate a voltage rectified by the rectifier circuit based on a carrier frequency, convert the rectified voltage back to a voltage of a predetermined frequency, and apply the voltage to a motor; a first capacitor provided between the rectifier circuit and the inverter circuit and having a capacitance satisfying predetermined conditions; and a composite coil provided between the three-phase AC power source and the first capacitor and having both common-mode inductance and normal-mode inductance. The coupling coefficient between the respective windings of the composite coil is 0.85 or more and less than 1. The carrier frequency is 17.7 kHz or higher.
