Abstract

The present disclosure provides an interventional imaging system for generating medical images of an imaging area of a subject. The system comprises a smoke detection optical device configured to acquire images of the imaging area. In addition, a smoke extraction arrangement comprising one or more suction units positioned within the vicinity of the imaging area for extraction of surgical smoke is provided. A processing unit processes the acquired images, with a smoke detection algorithm or model, to detect surgical smoke in the imaging area. Then, responsive to detecting the surgical smoke in the imaging area, the processing unit controls the smoke extraction arrangement to extract the detected surgical smoke.
