Abstract

A breast pump device for expressing milk from a breast, wherein the breast pump device is configured to: - receive a diaphragm configured to, during use, communicate a pressure profile generated by a pressure source from a pump chamber, configured to be pneumatically coupled to the pressure source, to the breast; - comprise a nipple volume for receiving a nipple of the breast during use, the nipple volume having a longitudinal axis and having a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end, during use, being closer to the user than the distal end; and - have the diaphragm form a boundary of the nipple volume at the distal end of the nipple volume during use, characterized in that, the breast pump device is configured such that, when the breast pump device, including the diaphragm, has been assembled, the diaphragm defines the pump chamber only partially.
