Abstract

A top component and a top toy that can change the mode of moving around with a single rotation shaft, without having to exchange the rotation shaft are provided. The top component provided with a rotation shaft 11, characterized in that the rotation shaft 11 is constituted from a thick shaft 11a with a large ground contact part diameter, and a thin shaft 11b that is positioned radially inward of the thick shaft 11a, for which the ground contact part diameter is smaller than that of the thick shaft 11a, and that has a projecting state and a non-projecting state with reference to the bottom surface of the thick shaft 11a, and a gear 111 that can mesh with an external rack 93 is provided on the outer circumference of the top component.
