Abstract

Method for monitoring the status of a jaw system (8) in a packaging machine (1), the jaw system (8) being configured to transversally seal a web of packaging material (3) in the form of a tube (2) to form a transverse seal (TS) in the tube (2); the method comprises the steps of: acquiring (S200) a signal (S_p) indicative of the variation over time of a pressure exerted by at least one jaw (9) of the jaw system (8) during operation of the same jaw system (8); processing (S201) the acquired signal (S_p) to determine one or more indicators (I) indicative of the occurrence of possible anomalies in the operation of the jaw system (8) of the packaging machine (1); and adjusting (S202) the operation of the jaw system (8) based on the determined one or more indicators (I).
