Abstract

The subject of the invention is the use of a catalyst containing at least one phosphonium cation and at least one aromatic carboxylate anion for the curing of an isocyanate-functional polymer with aromatic isocyanate groups and an NCO-content based on the total polymer of 0.5 to 5 weight-% by trimerisation of the isocyanate groups, a curable composition containing catalyst and the isocyanate-functional polymer, as well as the polyisocyanurate elastomer obtained from the inventive use or the inventive curable composition. The inventive catalyst enables the preparation of polyisocyanurate elastomer with good working time at room temperature, fast curing upon heating to 80 °C, high elongation at high strength and improved dimensional stability after exposure to prolonged compression and heat. Such polyisocyanurate elastomers are particularly suitable for the use as shock absorbers for vehicles.
