Abstract
Provided is a method of producing reduced iron that can achieve a further reduction in CO<sub>2</sub> emissions. The H<sub>2</sub> concentration of the reducing gas is 90 vol% or more, and in a particle size distribution of iron oxide in the furnace radial direction of a reduction furnace, the average particle size of iron oxide located in the central portion of the reduction furnace is larger than the average particle size of iron oxide located in the furnace wall portion of the reduction furnace.
