Abstract

A laminate material for use in an automobile is provided. The laminate material includes an exterior facing layer, an interior facing layer formed from at least a plurality of solution dyed yarns or fibers, and at least one intermediate layer. The intermediate layer(s) join the exterior and the interior facing layer. The laminate material is configured to transition between a retracted state in which the laminate material is at least partially rolled up about an axis and an extended state where the laminate material at least partially covers a window of the automobile so as to at least partially obstruct light passing through the window from entering the automobile. The laminate material is fit to be repeatedly moved between the retracted state and the extended state without exhibiting sag, delamination, or dimensional change that would prevent operation of an activation mechanism configured to extend or retract the laminate material.
