Abstract
A method of assembling a gas turbine engine (20) is provided that includes: mounting a seal (68) to an annular vane support (66), the annular vane support (66) having an annular surface (70) and a plurality of lugs (72) extending out from the annular surface (70), wherein the seal (68) has a first side surface (68B) and a second side surface (68C) opposite the first side surface (68B); and disposing a plurality of retainer clips (74; 674; 774; 874; 974; 1074), each engaged with the first side surface (68B) of the seal (68) and engaged with at least one of the lugs (72), and configured to retain the seal (68) mounted to the annular vane support (66). The retainer clips (74...1074) are configured to remain in the engine (20) after assembling. The retainer clips (74...1074) are configured to disperse when subjected to engine (20) operating temperatures.
