Abstract
A damping device for a rotor blade of a wind turbine is provided. The damping device (10) is configured to damp vibrations of the rotor blade (100) in a non-operating condition of the rotor blade when mounted to the rotor blade (100). The damping device (10) comprises a body (15) configured to be mounted to the rotor blade (100). The body (15) has a first protruding section (41) configured to protrude from a pressure side (104) of the rotor blade and/or has a second protruding section (42) that is configured to protrude from a suction side (103) of the rotor blade. The body (15) is made of a plastic material and is at least partially enclosed in a shell (16). A rigidity, hardness, and/or a density of a material of the shell (16) is higher than a rigidity, hardness, and/or a density, respectively, of the material of the body (15).
