Abstract

A rechargeable battery (200) includes an electrode assembly (150), and a cap plate (120) defining a terminal hole, a pair of terminals (130, 140) connected with the electrode assembly (150), one of the terminals (130, 140) including a rivet terminal (50) in the terminal hole with a seal gasket (40) between the rivet terminal (50) and the cap plate (120), a terminal plate (60) coupled to the rivet terminal (50), surrounding a part of the rivet terminal (50) at an exterior of the cap plate (120), and having an air layer (80) therein, and an insulator (70) between the cap plate (120) and the terminal plate (60), and overlapping the air layer (80) in a thickness direction of the cap plate (120).
