Abstract

A dishwasher comprises a tub constructed to accommodate therein dishes; a spray arm disposed in the tub and configured to spray washing water to the dishes, wherein the spray arm includes a plurality of spray arms positioned at different positions; a compressor for compressing refrigerant; a condenser fluid-communicating with the compressor, wherein heat exchange between the washing water and the refrigerant occurs while washing water and the refrigerant flow separately in the condenser; and a washing pump fluid-communicating with the condenser and configured to transfer the washing water. A method for controlling the dishwasher comprises: measuring an operation value generated under an operation of at least one of the compressor or the washing pump; comparing the operation value with a set value; and in response to that the operation value exceeds the set value, determining that at least one of the compressor or the spray arm is clogged with foreign substances.
