Abstract

A lesion maceration catheter includes an elongate catheter body, a cutting head assembly and an eccentric positioning element. The cutting head assembly is disposed at a distal end of the catheter body. The cutting head assembly includes a protective cage with an opening in a side surface of the protective cage, and a cutting element within the protective cage and exposed through the opening. The eccentric positioning element is configured to press the opening of the cutting head assembly against a vessel wall.
