Abstract

The invention relates to a multilayer sheet for laser-marking, comprising a first layer and a second layer, wherein the first layer is transparent and comprises a first amorphous thermoplastic, wherein the second layer is laser-markable and adjacent to the first layer, and wherein the second layer comprises a second amorphous thermoplastic and a laser-sensitive coloring agent, and wherein the first amorphous thermoplastic and/or the second amorphous thermoplastic comprises a poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), an acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), a polystyrene (PS), a styrene acrylonitrile (SAN), an acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA), or a combination thereof. Furthermore, the invention is directed to a method for laser-marking the multilayer sheet, comprising the following steps: a) providing the multilayer sheet, and b) laser-marking a predetermined area of the second layer by directing a laser light onto the second layer through the first layer.
