Abstract

A printing apparatus (1) includes: a discharge unit (26) configured to discharge a print medium in a first direction; a stacking unit (4) having a stacking surface (4a) and configured to extend and contract in the first direction and to stack the print medium discharged from the discharge unit (26) on the stacking surface (4a); a first regulation unit (421) arranged in the stacking unit (4), on a downstream side in the first direction of the stacking unit (4), and configured to regulate a position of a front edge of the print medium discharged from the discharge unit (26); and a control unit (71) configured to control extension of the stacking unit (4) prior to discharge of the print medium, in accordance with a size of the print medium to be discharged from the discharge unit (26).
