Abstract

The present invention relates to a cell culture substrate comprising: a substrate, and a layer containing a hydrophilic polymer covering at least a part of a surface of the substrate, wherein the cell culture substrate has the following (A) region and a (B) region: (A) region having cell adhesiveness and cell proliferative properties (B) region being adjacent to the (A) region and not having cell adhesiveness or cell proliferative properties; and the (A) region includes a recess formed in the layer containing the hydrophilic polymer, the recess has an inclined surface and a bottom surface, and an inclination angle of the inclined surface is 40° or more and 110° or less.
