Abstract
Described is a method for controlling a laundry treating apparatus including: a drum constructed to store laundry therein; a flow channel assembly constructed to guide air discharged from the drum to the drum; a blower that moves air along the flow channel assembly; a heat exchanger assembly including a compressor that moves a refrigerant along a refrigerant pipe, a pressure regulator disposed in the refrigerant pipe, a first heat exchanger that dehumidifies air by exchanging heat between air introduced into the flow channel assembly and the refrigerant discharged from the pressure regulator, and a second heat exchanger that heats air by exchanging heat between air that has passed through the first heat exchanger and the refrigerant discharged from the compressor; a water collector constructed to store condensate removed from air passing through the first heat exchanger therein; and a steam generator that generates steam by heating water, the method including: a heat exchange step of operating the blower and the heat exchanger assembly; a heat exchange end step of ending the operation of the blower and the heat exchanger assembly; a heat exchanger washing step of supplying steam to the first heat exchanger with the steam generator; a flow channel assembly washing step of operating the blower to move steam along the flow channel assembly; and a water collector washing step of supplying, to the water collector, hot water generated by spraying steam to the first heat exchanger with the steam generator, wherein the water collector washing step is performed after the flow channel assembly washing step is ended.
