Abstract
The invention relates to an image analysis system and method for determining intracellular fluctuations in a physiological medium comprising a quantitative digital holographic microscope; an incubator that maintains a set of cells under optimal physiological conditions thereof, in which the reference substrate and regions of interest are defined; and a processing module configured to: obtain a set of time-lapse images; determine the substrate and measure and spatially average a signal on said substrate; define a set of regions of interest and temporally average the measured signal from said regions of interest; calculate the signal fluctuations; define noise fluctuations as a linear combination of average signals from a set of substrates; and iteratively calculate a corrected fluctuations value.
