Abstract

A composite positive electrode active material for a rechargeable lithium battery includes a composite positive electrode active material including a first positive electrode active material in a form of single particles and including a lithium nickel-based composite oxide and a second positive electrode active material in a form of secondary particles in which primary particles are agglomerated and including a lithium nickel-based composite oxide. The first positive electrode active material is included in an amount of more than about 50 wt% and less than about 100 wt% based on 100 wt% of the composite positive electrode active material. The second positive electrode active material is included in an amount of greater than 0 wt% and less than about 50 wt% based on 100 wt% of the composite positive electrode active material.
