Abstract

Various example embodiments of an emergency notification capability are presented. The emergency notification capability may be configured to support use of an Internet Protocol (IP) Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) platform to provide emergency notification services for a predefined user group including a first user who initiates an emergency call and other users which receive corresponding emergency notifications based on the emergency call. The delivery of emergency notifications to the other users of the predefined user group may include delivery of emergency notifications to one or more other users directly via the IMS platform (e.g., within the IMS platform and/or based on interfacing between the IMS platform and other notification platforms) and/or delivery of emergency notifications to one or more other users indirectly via a customer premises gateway device of the first user who initiates the emergency call (e.g., the customer premises gateway device receives and initiates delivery of the emergency notifications).
