Abstract

The present invention relates to a reel-based tightening device (1, 1') adapted to be applied to an article provided with a pair of flaps to be moved towards/away from one another. The device (1, 1') comprises a spool (3) capable of rotating around a rotation axis (X-X) and a actuating member (4, 4'), which can operatively be connected to said spool (3) and can be operated by a user to cause said spool (3) to rotate around said rotation axis (X-X) so as to wind at least a portion of a traction element (100) thereon. Furthermore, the device (1, 1') comprises a first transmission unit (6) comprising a first set of component elements, adapted to cooperate with said actuating control member (4, 4') in a first operating condition to drive said spool (3) in rotation with a first gear ratio (R1), a second transmission unit (7) comprising a second set of component elements, adapted to cooperate with said actuating member (4, 4') in a second operating condition to drive said spool 3 in rotation with a second gear ratio (R2), which is different from the first gear ratio (R1), and a switching unit (200) configured to switch the transmission between said actuating member (4, 4') and said spool (3) during the winding of said at least one traction element (100) from said first gear ratio (R1) to said second gear ratio (R2) upon exceeding a predetermined threshold value of the tension of said traction element (100).
