Abstract

A cleaning apparatus (10) includes a supply tank (16), a recovery tank (18), a suction source (14), and a roller tool (24, 224) including a support body (26, 226) defining a wash chamber (34, 234). A roller (30, 230) is coupled to the support body (26, 226). A liquid outlet (42, 242) dispenses a liquid from the supply tank (16) into the wash chamber (34, 234). A tool suction nozzle (38, 128, 130, 238, 328, 330) is fluidly coupled with the suction source (14) such that fluid and debris are drawn with an airflow along a recovery flow path (46, 246) around the roller (30, 230) and to the recovery tank (18). A tool air inlet (32, 198, 200, 232, 396, 398) is fluidly coupled with the suction source (14) such that air is drawn into the wash chamber (34, 234) through the tool air inlet (32, 198, 200, 232, 396, 398). An air cushion (44, 244, 412, 414) is disposed within the wash chamber (34, 234). The air cushion (44, 244, 412, 414) expands and engages a surface (40, 240) of the roller (30, 230) as the air is drawn along a refresh flow path (48, 248) through the tool air inlet (32, 198, 200, 232, 396, 398) and into the air cushion (44, 244, 412, 414).
