Abstract

Aspects of the present invention relate to a control system for controlling a fixed display system of a vehicle 1, the control system comprising one or more processors 110 collectively configured to:selectively operate a vehicle display 32 of the fixed display system according to either a first brightness setting or a second brightness setting, the first brightness setting being configured to cause the display 32 to operate at a first display brightness level and the second brightness setting being configured to cause the display to operate at a second brightness level, the second brightness level comprising a lower value of display brightness than the first display brightness level;receive temperature data 130 representing a temperature associated with the display 32;determine if the temperature data 130 is representative of a temperature greater than an upper threshold temperature; andon determining that the temperature data is representative of a temperature greater than the upper threshold temperature, operate the vehicle display 32 according to the second brightness setting.
