Abstract
A fuel composition for use in a compression ignition engine comprises a hydrocarbon compound and oxygenate compound. The hydrocarbon compound comprises at least one member of each of a paraffinic C<sub>8-25</sub> hydrocarbon, a C<sub>13-25</sub> cycloparaffinic hydrocarbon, and an aromatic hydrocarbon. The oxygenate compound comprises at least one of an ether, monoetherified and monoesterified diols, an ester, and an ether alcohol ester, each having a molecular weight of 220 to 500 g/mol. The fuel composition has a density of 0.79 to 1.00 g/cm<sup>3</sup> at a temperature of 15°C. The fuel composition is useful as a diesel fuel having improved low temperature properties.
