Abstract

The present invention provides a poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate) resin-containing fiber in which the poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate) resin includes a 3-hydroxybutyrate unit, the fiber being suppressed from fusing during production of the fiber and being thermally fusible at low temperatures during thermal processing of the fiber. The present invention is, for example, a fiber including a core-sheath structure including a core portion and a sheath portion. Each of the core portion and the sheath portion contains a poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate) resin including a 3-hydroxybutyrate unit. An average molar content of the 3-hydroxybutyrate unit in the poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate) resin of the core portion is greater than an average molar content of the 3-hydroxybutyrate unit in the poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate) resin of the sheath portion.
