Abstract

Provided is an iron comprising a soleplate assembly (118) having a wider rear end (120) and a narrower front tip (122). The iron comprises a heating element for heating the soleplate assembly. The heating element comprises a curved section (116) extending at proximity of the front tip. A thermal fuse (124) is in thermal contact with the soleplate assembly, for cutting off power supply to the heating element if temperature of the soleplate assembly reaches a given temperature threshold. The thermal fuse is arranged at proximity of the front tip.
