Abstract

The invention relates to pre-magnetizing a transformer (3) of an electrolyzer power supply system (2) and a corresponding method. The electrolyzer power supply system (2) comprises a transformer (3) and a converter (4), particularly a self-commutated converter, wherein the transformer (3) is adapted to convert an alternating current electrical power output (5) from an electrical grid (6) into an alternating current electrical power input (7) for the converter (4). The converter (4) is adapted to convert the alternating current electrical power input (7) from the transformer (3) into a direct current electrical power input (8) for an electrolyzer (9). For pre-magnetizing the transformer (3), the converter (4) is adapted to provide a pre-magnetization current (13) from a direct current source (10) to the transformer (3).
