Abstract

The present disclosure provides an analyte monitoring system(1), characterized in that the analyte monitoring system(1) includes a medical device(800), a piercing member(260), an application device(1000), and a cap(700). The medical device(800) includes an application portion(860) and a sensor(820) supported by the application portion(860) and at least partially positionable subcutaneously. The piercing member(260) is configured to carry at least a portion of the sensor(820) into the subcutaneous tissue. The application device(1000) is configured to move the piercing member(260). The cap(700) is coupled to the application device(1000) and has a sealed space for accommodating at least a portion of the sensor(820). Thereby, the analyte monitoring system(1) may be provided to the user in an integrated architecture for ease of use.
