Abstract

A centrifugal separator (100) is disclosed, comprising a stationary housing (110) accommodating a rotatable separation unit (130), a rotor shaft (132) configured to drive the rotatable separation unit, and a barrier device (150) arranged between a separation space and a drainage region of the housing. The barrier device comprises an upper side (152) facing the separation space and configured to guide the gas flow towards a gas outlet (124) of the housing, a lower side (154) configured to shield the contaminants in the drainage region from the gas outlet, a central passage (158) for the rotor shaft, and a first edge (167) and a second edge (168) protruding from the lower side and arranged to encircle the central passage to trap contaminants flowing on the lower side, towards the central passage.
