Abstract

An elevator system, having: an elevator car; a controller operationally coupled to the elevator car; and a remote service implement, wherein the controller is configured to transmit communication data to the remote service implement utilizing a first communication channel; a local service implement, wherein the controller is configured to transmit the communication data to the local service implement utilizing a second communication channel that is the same as or differs from the first communication channel; wherein the controller is configured to: identify a trapped passenger event with the elevator car; and transmit the communication data to the local service implement utilizing the second communication channel upon determining that the controller is unable to transmit the communication data to the remote service implement utilizing the first communication channel.
