Provided is a polymer for a water-repellent agent, the polymer comprising a repeating unit derived from a monomer (1) represented by the following formula: CR^aR^b=C(-R^c)-X-SiY_3-nZ_nwhereinR^a, R^b, and R^c are each independently a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms,X is a single bond or a divalent group,Y is each independently a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms,n is an integer of 1 or 2,Z is each independently -(O-SiZ¹₂)_p-(CH₂)_q-Z²-Si(-OSiZ³₃)₂Z⁴,Z¹ is each independently a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms or -OSiZ¹¹₃,Z¹¹ is each independently a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms or -OSiZ¹¹¹₃,Z¹¹¹ is each independently a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms,Z² is -O- or -CH₂-,Z³ is each independently a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms or -OSiZ³¹₃,Z³¹ is each independently a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms,Z⁴ is each independently a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms or -OSiZ⁴¹₃,Z⁴¹ is each independently a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms,p is an integer of 0 to 196, andq is an integer of 0 to 10.
