Abstract

An assembly comprising a tubular element (100) having a circumferential groove (101) and a sealing ring (10). The sealing ring includes a base (20), a middle protrusion (30) that extends beyond the open end of the groove, first and second outer protrusions (40, 50), and first and second cavities (45, 55) between the base and the outer protrusions.When the middle protrusion is moved toward a groove end wall, the opposite outer protrusion moves away from its end wall and out of the groove; fluid pressure in the corresponding cavity forces the base against the groove and enhances the seal.
